Woman Shocked by $24 Price Tag for Chicken Rice with 3 Sets of Breast Meat at Yishun Stall
A woman was surprised to find out that a plate of chicken rice with three servings of breast meat cost $24 at a popular stall in Yishun, much more than expected. The high price compared to other options left her questioning the value. Despite the steep cost, she opted for a single serving due to the exorbitant pricing. She expressed disappointment at the inflated prices in the neighborhood coffee shop.

A woman was shocked to be quoted $24 for chicken rice with three sets of breast meat at a popular chicken rice stall in Yishun. Stomper Anonymous visited 925 Yishun Hainanese Chicken Rice at dinnertime on July 5. She was taken aback that one serving of rice with three servings of chicken breast meat would cost $24, instead of the $12 to $15 she was expecting. Anonymous recounted: 'The cashier broke it down and said one serving of chicken breast costs a whopping $8. I saw their price chart and learnt that they were selling half a chicken for $15 and one whole chicken for $30. So meaning to say, if I were to buy four sets of chicken breast, it will cost more than a whole chicken? Which means if I buy two sets of chicken breast, it will be more expensive than half a chicken too. That is ridiculous! It's just a normal neighborhood coffee shop and they are charging such exorbitant price for chicken rice. It's not even an air-conditioned food court.'
The Stomper ended up buying just a packet of chicken breast meat with rice for $8 because: '$24 is crazy. It's enough for me to buy a steak.' She shared a photo of her meal and said: 'Even $8 for this is crazy. The chicken breast is actually not a lot. They just sliced the chicken breast into half and spread it out to make it seem like there is a lot of meat. I didn't ask further as there were customers waiting behind me. But I guess this will be my last time ordering from them.' 'Inflation is a real thing in Singapore, but I think business owners are making it worse by inflating the prices this much.'
