Paul Loonam, a well-known sportsman, died in a work-related accident at Ballinamere outside Tullamore, County Offaly. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, July 9th. Mr. Loonam, who was in his fifties and from Pullough village, was working with a digger when the accident happened. Emergency services responded to the scene. He was recognized in boxing circles as the father and coach of professional boxer Paul Loonam. Additionally, he was active in Gaelic football with Erin Rovers in the 1980s and 1990s. Tributes have poured in for Mr. Loonam online, with friends remembering him as a hardworking gentleman and a pillar of the community.
