Max Branning is returning to Walford as Jake Wood reprises his role this autumn. His arrival, orchestrated by EastEnders' new Executive Producer Ben Wadey, is set to stir up trouble for the residents of Walford, bringing the Brannings back to the center of the drama.
Max first appeared on the show in 2006, known for his self-destructive and womanizing ways that caused turmoil within his family and led to involvement in some of the show's most memorable storylines. From his affair with daughter-in-law Stacey Slater to his conflicts with the Beales and the Mitchells, and being a suspect in Lucy Beale's murder, Max has made plenty of enemies.
Max left Walford in 2021 after his affair with Linda Carter ended, causing issues with his brother Jack Branning's job. With his daughter Lauren set to marry into the Beales, troubled son Oscar back in Walford, widowed Stacey Slater, and a secret daughter with Linda, Max has unfinished business awaiting his return.
