Google's Gemini app now creates videos from images using Veo 3 AI

Google is introducing video-generation features to its Gemini app. Users can now turn still photos into animated video clips using the latest video generation model, Veo 3. The update started rolling out on 11 July to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries. Initially, users can create eight-second videos with sound, adding a new dimension to digital storytelling.

In a recent blog post, Google announced the availability of the feature in the Gemini app, showcasing how users are exploring the capabilities of Veo 3 in creative ways. Over 40 million Veo 3 videos have been generated through Gemini and Flow in the past seven weeks.

The photo-to-video feature is accessible in both the Gemini app and Google’s AI-powered video creation tool, Flow. To generate videos:

• Open the Gemini app.
• Click on the 'Videos' option in the tool menu.
• Select and upload the photo you want to animate.
• Describe the scene and provide audio instructions if necessary.
• Let Gemini AI handle the rest.
• Within minutes, a dynamic MP4 video in 720p HD with motion and sound will be generated.

Google is implementing safety measures to prevent misuse of its video creation tools. Each generated video includes a visible watermark to indicate it's AI-generated, along with an invisible SynthID digital watermark. These measures promote transparency and deter misuse.
