Israel Army Conducts Targeted Operations in Southern Lebanon
Israel's military confirms launching special operations in southern Lebanon to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure. Troops entered the area based on intelligence to prevent Hezbollah's resurgence. The operations aim to prevent the group from reestablishing itself in the region.

Israel's military conducted targeted operations in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, to dismantle infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group. The army stated that based on intelligence information, soldiers entered southern Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah from reestablishing itself in the area by dismantling their weapons and terrorist infrastructure.
The army shared a video showing troops on the ground in southern Lebanon, but the authenticity of the footage could not be verified. The 9th Brigade operated in the Labbouneh area near the border, while the 300th Brigade operated in the Jabal Blat area further west.
Despite a ceasefire with Hezbollah in November, Israel has continued strikes on Lebanon, targeting the group's sites and operatives. The ceasefire aimed to end hostilities with Hezbollah, requiring the group to move its fighters north of the Litani river while leaving the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers as the only armed parties in the region.
Israel, however, has maintained troops in strategic locations despite the ceasefire agreement.
