New low pressure area detected in Philippine area of responsibility

A new low pressure area (LPA) was detected inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday. According to Pagasa's advisory at 10 p.m., LPA 07c was observed 470 kilometers north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes as of 8 p.m.

However, Pagasa mentioned that the LPA has a low likelihood of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. LPA 07b, which is still under monitoring outside the PAR, is also unlikely to transform into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. It was situated 1,670 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 8 p.m.

In the 5 p.m. weather forecast, Pagasa weather specialist John Manalo stated that the southwest monsoon, or habagat, will persist in the upcoming days. He forecasted that habagat will bring rains and overcast skies to the western part of Luzon, including Metro Manila on Thursday. Additionally, Palawan, and the western regions of Visayas and Mindanao are expected to encounter cloudy skies and a high likelihood of rain.
