The net portfolio value of Singapore investment company Temasek reached $434 billion for the financial year ended March 31, 2025, marking a $45 billion increase from the previous year. The company reported that the $434 billion net portfolio value is a record high.
Net portfolio value represents the total market value of listed assets and the book value of unlisted assets in an investment portfolio minus any liabilities, providing an accurate snapshot of the portfolio's worth at a specific point in time. Temasek's 20-year total shareholder return (TSR) remained at 7 per cent for the second consecutive year, while the one-year TSR saw a significant increase to 11.8 per cent, driven by robust performance from Singapore-based portfolio companies and strong returns in the US, China, and India.
Temasek's net portfolio value, when considering unlisted assets at market value, rose to $469 billion, reflecting a $35 billion increase from the previous year. The company's listed investments make up 51 per cent of its investment portfolio, with the remaining 49 per cent in unlisted assets. Temasek's portfolio is diversified across Singapore-based companies, global direct investments, and partnerships, funds, and asset management firms.
In FY2025, Temasek invested $52 billion in areas aligned with digitisation, sustainable living, the future of consumption, and longer lifespans, while divesting $42 billion to recycle capital and focus on trend-aligned companies. The company also emphasized sustainable investments, with a portfolio value of $46 billion in investments aligned with the sustainable living trend.
Looking ahead, Temasek remains optimistic about investment opportunities despite geopolitical tensions and global uncertainties. The company will continue to actively engage its Singapore portfolio companies to enhance value and future-proof their businesses, while maintaining a diversified global exposure through investments in key markets like the US, Europe, China, and India.
