Taiwan Vice-President Stands Firm Against Chinese Intimidation Plans in Prague
Taiwan's Vice-President Hsiao Bi-khim remains undeterred by reports of Chinese diplomats and secret service planning physical intimidation during her visit to Prague. Despite the incidents, she expressed gratitude for the Czech authorities' hospitality and emphasized Taiwan's commitment to voicing its interests on the global stage.

Taiwan's Vice-President Hsiao Bi-khim stated that she will not be intimidated by China after Czech military intelligence revealed that Chinese diplomats and secret service had followed and planned to physically intimidate her during her visit to Prague last year.
Hsiao visited the Czech Republic in March 2024. Despite the lack of official diplomatic ties between Prague and Taiwan, the Czech Republic has maintained friendly relations with Taiwan, which China claims as its territory.
Czech media reported that a Chinese diplomat had run a red light while tailing Hsiao's car. Additionally, it was revealed that the Chinese had planned a staged car crash to intimidate her.
In a social media post, Hsiao expressed gratitude to the Czech authorities for their hospitality and ensuring her safety during the visit. She emphasized that the Chinese Communist Party's actions will not deter her from advocating for Taiwan's interests internationally.
Hsiao also thanked global parliamentarians for their solidarity against violence and coercion, affirming that Taiwan will not succumb to intimidation.
A spokesperson from Czech Military Intelligence confirmed that Chinese diplomats in Prague had engaged in activities that breached diplomatic protocols, including physically following the vice-president and monitoring her activities and meetings with Czech political figures.
The spokesperson disclosed an attempt by the Chinese civil secret service to orchestrate a demonstrative action against Hsiao, which was fortunately thwarted in the preparation stage.
