Singapore Increases Security Measures Amid Israel-Iran Conflict

Singapore has increased its security posture amid the Israel-Iran conflict, according to Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam. He mentioned that despite the ceasefire, the future remains uncertain. There is a possibility of extremist organizations targeting Western assets or far-right attacks on Muslim assets in the region. In response to the Israeli attacks on Iran and subsequent counterattacks, Singapore has heightened security levels with increased patrols and checks by the police and other agencies.

Minister Shanmugam emphasized the importance of being prepared for various scenarios as security is a shared responsibility. The government has been promoting awareness through the SGSecure programme. The minister highlighted the need for vigilance, mentioning a test where items were left in public to gauge public awareness, revealing room for improvement.

While there have been no significant suspicious activities detected in Singapore so far, Minister Shanmugam emphasized the potential risks and the importance of remaining alert.
