Recall Alert: 60,000 Tower Air Fryers Recalled in Ireland

A recall has been issued for 60,000 air fryers sold in various shops across Ireland. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has urged owners of certain models of Tower air fryers to stop using them. The affected models include T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer, T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer, and T17129L Vortx 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer. These models were manufactured between 2020 and 2024 and sold in retailers like Argos, Tesco Ireland, DID, Dealz, Lidl, Amazon, and the Tower Housewares website.

The CCPC stated that these air fryers have a manufacturing defect that could cause overheating, potentially leading to fires and posing a risk of injury or death. While no incidents have been reported in Ireland, there have been reports of these products catching fire in the UK. Gráinne Griffin, director of communications at the CCPC, emphasized the importance of checking the model number on the appliance rating label located at the bottom of the air fryer. If the model number begins with the letter T, consumers should stop using the product immediately, unplug it, and contact Tower Housewares through their website or by emailing [email protected].
