Puri Rath Yatra Stampede: Law Minister Promises Action After Unfortunate Incident

Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan called the stampede at the Puri Rath Yatra 'very unfortunate' and promised action after an investigation. Three people died and many were injured during the event.

The state government is taking strict action and a senior officer will investigate the incident. Harichandan said, 'We will take action once we get the report of the investigation.'

Following the incident, a high-level administrative inquiry has been ordered. New officials have been appointed, and some were suspended for negligence of duty.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow and announced financial assistance to the families of the deceased. He pledged to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Despite the incident, the rituals during the festival were carried out smoothly according to the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannatha Temple Office in Puri.
