Philippines Wins UN E-Government Award for Digital Governance Progress
The Philippines received the UN E-Government Award for advancements in digital governance. Its ranking in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) improved from 2022 to 2024, moving from 'High' to 'Very High' classification. The award was presented during the 2025 UN Public Service Forum in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary for E-Government David Almirol Jr. received the UN E-Government Award for the Philippines during the 2025 UN Public Service Forum in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The country was recognized by the United Nations for its progress in digital governance, improving its ranking in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) from 2022 to 2024.
The UN E-Government Award was presented by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), indicating the Philippines' shift from 'High' to 'Very High' classification in the EGDI global ranking. Additionally, its rank in the Online Service Index (OSI) also rose from 'High' to 'Very High' with a 15% increase between 2022 and 2024.
The report highlighted the country's efforts in enhancing telecommunications infrastructure, improving online services, and investing in human capital development. Strategies such as expanding broadband access, developing e-government platforms, and promoting digital literacy have contributed to this progress.
Undersecretary Almirol emphasized that these achievements reflect the government's commitment to digitalize public services and enhance accessibility and security. The UN recognition validates the Philippines' digital transformation roadmap under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., aiming to make government services more efficient, inclusive, and future-ready.
The successful rollout of digital platforms like the eGov PH Super App, serving over 13 million users with 47 integrated service modules and 150 million transactions, was noted. The eGovDX platform has facilitated over 500 million transactions across 1,000 national and local government agency systems.
