Senator Hontiveros to File NBI Complaint Over Fake Video Allegations
Senator Risa Hontiveros plans to file a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation against those responsible for a video featuring a man known as 'Rene' making false claims. The senator refutes the allegations and vows to seek justice for witnesses and victims.

Senator Risa Hontiveros plans to file a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against those responsible for a video featuring a man known as 'Rene.' The man claimed he was coerced to testify against detained pastor Apollo Quiboloy, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and Vice President Sara Duterte during a Senate committee hearing.
Hontiveros denounced the video as 'fake news' and 'witness tampering.' She stated that the man, alias Rene, testified voluntarily and was not influenced by her or her team.
In response, Hontiveros announced that she will take legal action against the creators and distributors of the video. She emphasized the importance of seeking justice for witnesses and victims.
Alias Rene had previously testified in a Senate hearing about alleged abuses within the Quiboloy-led religious group, Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC). He accused Quiboloy of abuse and claimed to have seen firearms in possession of Rodrigo and Sara Duterte during a visit to Quiboloy.
Hontiveros revealed that Rene had approached her office willingly to testify and had not received any financial assistance. She suspected that Rene may have been influenced to retract his statements by external forces.
The senator highlighted a pattern of witness harassment and manipulation after testifying, labeling it as witness tampering and psychological warfare.
Despite acknowledging that Rene may have been manipulated, Hontiveros stressed the need for accountability. Other witnesses from the hearing have expressed their willingness to confirm their voluntary testimonies.
Quiboloy is currently detained and facing charges related to human trafficking and child protection laws.
