Philippines' Alas Team Takes Fourth Place in VTV Cup After Loss to Taipei

Alas Pilipinas finished fourth in the VTV Women’s International Cup after losing to Chinese Taipei in the bronze medal game with scores of 17-25, 24-26, 22-25. The game took place at Vinh Phuc Gymnasium in Vietnam.

Chinese Taipei, aiming for a second consecutive bronze, surprised Alas Pilipinas, who had defeated them previously to reach the AVC Nations Cup final.

Alas Pilipinas briefly led in the third set but ultimately lost after Taipei scored four consecutive points. Chinese Taipei also secured the second set after a close battle.

PVL MVP Van Sickle led the Alas Pilipinas team, with contributions from Phillips and Gandler. The team had previously lost in the semifinals to Korabelka of Russia.

The last Philippine team to reach the podium in the VTV Women’s International Cup was Choco Mucho in 2023.
