Since the GHF was launched, Israeli forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians attempting to collect food aid, according to the UN and local doctors. Israel claims the new distribution system prevents aid from reaching Hamas.

The incident occurred after a successful food distribution by GHF, where thousands of Gazans safely received food. GHF had warned of threats from Hamas targeting American personnel, Palestinian aid workers, and civilians.

Gaza's civil defence agency reported 32 Palestinians killed by Israeli military operations on Saturday. Hamas expressed readiness for ceasefire talks with Israel.

Hamas seeks amendments to the US-proposed ceasefire agreement, including a guarantee that hostilities won't resume after the ceasefire ends. They also want GHF disbanded and aid distributed solely by the UN and its partners, demands rejected by Israel.

According to Gaza's health ministry, at least 70 people were killed by Israeli forces in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Gaza to 57,338 during the conflict with Hamas.

The Israeli military initiated the campaign in response to Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, resulting in casualties and hostages.
