Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Approaching Our Solar System from the Center of the Galaxy
Astronomers have confirmed that the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is currently speeding towards our solar system from the center of the galaxy. This comet-like visitor, the third of its kind, was first detected by telescopes in Chile and is expected to pass closest to the Sun on October 30.

The object recently spotted in the outer solar system is confirmed to be from interstellar space. Named 3I/ATLAS, it is currently located between the asteroid belt and Jupiter, about 416 million miles away from the Sun. It is approaching the inner solar system at a speed of 130,000 miles per hour. 3I/ATLAS is only the third confirmed interstellar object to reach our Sun's domain. It appears to be a comet, making it the second known 'rogue' comet in history. The discovery was a collaborative effort involving telescopes in Chile and observations from around the globe. There's no uncertainty about its interstellar origins due to its high speed. The size of 3I/ATLAS is still debated, but it is expected to be observable for a long time, providing ample opportunity for study.
