Jurassic World Rebirth Makes Massive $300M-Plus Global Debut

The dinos have a new lease on life. Universal and Amblin’s Jurassic World Rebirth is exceeding expectations at the Fourth of July box office, marking a new era for the franchise created by Steven Spielberg. The holiday tentpole is expected to have a five-day domestic opening of $141.2 million, with $85.4 million for the three-day weekend.

It ranks as the fifth-best showing for the holiday and the fourth-biggest domestic opening of 2025 so far. Despite mixed reviews, the power of the Jurassic brand and the spectacle of dinosaurs on screen are undeniable.

Internationally, Jurassic World Rebirth is performing even better with an estimated opening of $171.3 million, bringing its global start to $312.5 million, making it the second-best of the franchise and the second-best opening of the year behind A Minecraft Movie.

The film, directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, features a new cast including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. The story follows an extraction team on an island inhabited by dangerous creatures left behind.

Previous Jurassic World films grossed over $1 billion globally, with Rebirth costing $180 million to produce. In comparison, Jurassic World opened to $208.8 million in 2015, followed by $148 million for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and $145 million for Jurassic World: Dominion.

Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie is also performing well in its second weekend, crossing the $100 million mark domestically. Other films rounding out the top five include How to Train Your Dragon, Elio, and 28 Years Later.
