Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Boosts Success of Qualcomm's Most Powerful Chip
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite powers Samsung's Galaxy S25 lineup, including S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge. Samsung emerges as the top buyer of these chips, selling 16.61 million units globally by May 2025. This surpasses combined sales of all other flagship Android phones using the same chipset.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is Qualcomm's most powerful mobile chip yet. Qualcomm created a custom version of this chip for Samsung known as the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. It has been utilized in the entire Galaxy S25 series worldwide, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and the Galaxy S25 Edge.
While other companies have also incorporated the Snapdragon 8 Elite in their flagship devices, it is Samsung that has significantly boosted the success of Qualcomm's most potent chipset this year.
Samsung has emerged as the top purchaser of Snapdragon 8 Elite chips. By the end of May 2025, Samsung had sold an estimated 16.61 million units of the complete Galaxy S25 series globally. This figure includes 4.86 million units of the Galaxy S25, 3.17 million units of the S25+, 8.39 million units of the S25 Ultra, and 190,000 units of the Galaxy S25 Edge. All these smartphones feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset.
It is noteworthy that the total sales of all phones from all manufacturers utilizing Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite have not yet reached 16.61 million. It is remarkable that a single series from Samsung has surpassed the sales of all flagship Android phones from other brands using the same chipset.
This indicates that the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy is a clear winner for Qualcomm, as it has delivered more of these chipsets to a single manufacturer than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset shipped to various other manufacturers.
