Marcos Aims to Reduce Health Costs for PhilHealth Members

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. revealed plans to decrease the out-of-pocket medical expenses of PhilHealth members gradually, aiming to enhance healthcare accessibility and affordability for all Filipinos.

During the turnover ceremony of 387 patient transport vehicles (PTVs) at Quirino Grandstand, Marcos mentioned that the government is focused on expanding PhilHealth's insurance coverage and enhancing healthcare services by adjusting the budgets of the Department of Health (DOH) and PhilHealth.

\"We're expanding PhilHealth's insurance coverage and improving the services provided by PhilHealth,\" Marcos stated.

He expressed optimism that as the economy progresses, PhilHealth members may eventually have to bear minimal administrative costs or even none at all.

\"We are reducing the fees because patients still need to contribute when seeking medical care. We will gradually lessen this patient contribution,\" Marcos explained.

His objective is for PhilHealth members to only pay a nominal fee, primarily for administrative purposes.

\"That's our aim. Although our system is not yet fully capable, we are allocating budget to hasten the enhancement of our healthcare services,\" Marcos added.
