Kerala Health and Education Departments to Conduct Rabies Awareness Programs in Government Schools

The Kerala Health and Education departments are jointly conducting an awareness program against rabies in government and aided schools in the state starting from June 30. State Health Minister Veena George announced that health workers will conduct a class during the assembly time in all government and aided schools to educate school children about rabies. The Education Department has instructed doctors or health workers to participate in these classes. District-level programs will also be held in major schools with the presence of local authorities. The focus will be on teaching students and teachers about first aid, vaccination, and precautions against rabies. Similar awareness sessions will be conducted for teachers and parents through PTA meetings in July. Pamphlets, videos, and posters with guidelines for children will be distributed to raise awareness.
