IAEA Chief Warns Iran Could Produce Enriched Uranium Soon

The UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi stated that Iran is likely to begin producing enriched uranium in a matter of months, despite damage to nuclear facilities from US and Israeli attacks. Israel conducted a bombing campaign on Iranian sites to prevent nuclear weapon development, while the US targeted key facilities. Iran's foreign minister confirmed serious damage to the sites, but the extent is unknown. Grossi mentioned that some facilities are still operational, allowing for uranium production soon.

The concern is whether Iran moved its stockpile of highly enriched uranium before the attacks. The uranium is enriched to 60%, above civilian levels but below weapons grade. Grossi expressed uncertainty about the location of the material, raising the possibility of its destruction or relocation.

Iran suspended cooperation with the IAEA and denied access to damaged sites. Trump doubted the stockpile had been moved, citing the lack of notice given before the attacks. The US secretary of state supported the IAEA's monitoring efforts in Iran, praising Grossi's dedication.

The full interview with Grossi will be broadcast on Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan. According to the source: The Guardian.
