LTO and PCC Join Forces to Protect PUV Sector from Unfair Competition

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to enhance services and strengthen safeguards against anti-competitive practices in the land transportation sector. The signing took place at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City with key officials present.

Under the MOA, LTO and PCC will collaborate on monitoring and preventing anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position, and transactions that could restrict competition. This includes oversight on mergers and acquisitions that may impact competition in the sector.

Both agencies will also cooperate on investigation, enforcement, merger reviews, and market monitoring to ensure compliance with competition laws. Sharing of relevant information is emphasized for effective implementation of competition-related laws and policies.

The partnership aims to align with the government's goal of improving services, as directed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The increasing digitalization of LTO services and emerging trends in land transportation underscore the importance of joint efforts between the two agencies to address industry challenges.
