Ethiopian Embassy and UN Pakistan Join Forces for Food Systems Summit
The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the United Nations in Pakistan have agreed to collaborate on mobilizing international participation for the upcoming United Nations Food Systems Summit Stocktake in Addis Ababa. The discussion highlighted the importance of Pakistani leadership's involvement in the Summit, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy.
The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the United Nations, Pakistan, have agreed to cooperate on mobilizing international participation for the 2nd United Nations Food Systems Summit Stocktake, scheduled from July 27-29, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The discussion took place during a meeting between Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Pakistan Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula and Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Pakistan Mohamed Yahya.
Both sides discussed the critical importance of Pakistani leadership’s participation in the Summit, co-hosted by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Italy.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal briefed the Resident Coordinator on the preparations in Addis Ababa for hosting the Food Systems Summit Stocktake, highlighting the growing cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan in climate change and food security.
He also shared the visionary steps taken by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed for climate adaptation, green development, and food self-sufficiency.
Mohamed Yahya praised Ethiopia’s efforts in forestation, afforestation, food security, and green development, expressing full support for the conference’s success and objectives.
The meeting emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing global food security challenges and promoting sustainable development.
