As per reports, Kannappa had a 16.45% Tamil occupancy, 55.89% Telugu occupancy, 14.56% Hindi occupancy, 13.81% Kannada occupancy, and 7.20% Malayalam occupancy on Friday. Despite earning ₹9 crore, Kannappa surpassed Kajol's film Maa, which earned ₹4.50 crore. It performed twice as well as Maa.
Maa, directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, also released on Friday. It marks Kajol's comeback to the big screen after a three-year break.
