Philippines' CoA leads global meeting on public debt management trends

The Philippines' audit commission, the Commission on Audit (CoA), led the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (Intosai) Working Group on Public Debt (WGPD) meeting in Bucharest, Romania. The meeting, chaired by Chairman Gamaliel Cordoba, focused on global trends in public debt management and the role of SAIs. Participants from various countries discussed emerging trends in public debt management and the evolving role of SAIs to encourage knowledge sharing and cooperation. The event was hosted by the Romanian Court of Accounts and included officials and experts from several SAIs and the International Monetary Fund. Discussions highlighted the impact of climate change, sustainability reporting, and leveraging technology in public debt management and audits. The Philippine delegation included key officials and members of the WGPD secretariat.

The WGPD aims to provide guidelines for SAIs to improve reporting and management of public debt and facilitate knowledge exchange on public debt issues.
