DSWD Prepares P3B in Aid for 2025 Calamities

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has P3 billion in standby funds and a prepositioned relief stockpile ready for calamities nationwide this year. DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao mentioned that these funds will be used to respond to requests from calamity-affected local government units (LGUs). Over three million family food packs are prepositioned in DSWD and LGU warehouses across the country.

The Office of Civil Defense reported that over 3,700 families in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley have been affected by Bising (international name: Danas). DSWD has provided aid to affected residents, especially in Benguet and Ilocos Sur.

Bising exited the PAR on Friday, developed into a severe tropical storm on Saturday night, and reached typhoon category on Sunday. PAGASA stated that Danas may re-enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by this evening or early Monday morning. At 11 p.m., Danas was observed 385 kilometers west northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h, moving north northwestward at 10 km/h.
