A doctor in Singapore, Bernard Tan Wen Sheng, forged certificates to apply for a licence to provide aesthetic treatments at his new clinic. He used his wife's certificates as templates, altered them by printing his name over hers, and submitted the forged documents to the authorities. Dr Tan pleaded guilty to forgery and providing false information to a public servant. He is still a registered doctor, but his practising certificate is set to expire this year.
Dr Tan decided to set up Bay Aesthetics Clinic in February 2023 and needed to submit certificates of competence for procedures like botulinum toxin injections, fillers, and chemical peels. When asked for the certificates, he altered his wife's documents as he had not attended the required workshops. Despite warnings from the Ministry of Health, Dr Tan maintained his lie. His sentencing is scheduled for July 29.
