Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar dismissed reports that Nawaz Sharif was planning to meet Imran Khan at Adiala jail, calling them speculations. Dar stated that there is no need for such a meeting as the law will take its course and labeled the news as sponsored and deliberate.
He also affirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will continue to be a key ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) despite the latter's majority in the National Assembly. Dar highlighted PPP's support in forming the government after the 2024 general elections and mentioned that the coalition partner has not demanded any ministerial portfolios.
Following the Election Commission of Pakistan's notification of reserved seats, the ruling alliance now holds a two-thirds majority in the lower house. The notification was in line with the top court's ruling that denied Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seats reserved for women and minorities, allocating most of the reserved seats to the ruling coalition.
PML-N senior leader Khawaja Asif expressed that it is the PPP's decision whether to join the current government, citing past cooperation as a good experience. He emphasized the potential benefits of collaboration between the major political parties for the national agenda.
