Government and establishment alignment causing concern among many: Mohsin Naqvi

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi credited the country’s law enforcement agencies for ensuring peace and security during Muharram by making excellent arrangements across Pakistan. He praised the efforts of police, rangers, and intelligence agencies in maintaining peaceful religious gatherings. Naqvi also mentioned plans for a joint operation against dacoits in the Katcha area by federal and provincial forces.

Addressing speculation about President Asif Ali Zardari's removal, Naqvi urged to avoid political games and rumors on social media. He highlighted that some individuals are uncomfortable with the alignment of politicians, government, and military establishment, leading to the spread of gossip.

Naqvi advised the public to ignore fake news and focus on national unity and peace, emphasizing zero tolerance for religious hatred and sectarianism. He warned against incitement on social media and assured that security forces are vigilant to thwart any disruptive activities.

The minister expressed confidence in a peaceful Ashura with the collaborative efforts of the government and security institutions. He reported the peaceful progress of 2,763 Muharram processions nationwide, with nearly 1 million participants in Sukkur's central procession on the 9th Muharram.

Control rooms at central and provincial levels are monitoring processions and security activities round-the-clock.
