Britain's Infamous Gangster Surprises Retired Detective at Charity Lunch
A retired detective was about to give a talk on the notorious Brink's-Mat gold robbery when he was interrupted by the presence of Kenny Noye, Britain's most notorious gangster. Noye, known for his violent past, engaged in a bizarre confrontation at the charity lunch, leaving attendees stunned.

Britain's most notorious gangster and the detective who pursued him had a strange encounter at a charity lunch event. Former Detective Superintendent Ian Brown was about to speak about the infamous £26m Brink's-Mat gold robbery at a Kent golf club when he was called off stage. He was informed that Kenny Noye, involved in the Brink's-Mat case, was present at the event.
Noye, known for stabbing an undercover policeman during the investigation, was acquitted of murder but jailed for handling stolen gold. After his release, he committed another murder. Brown humorously suggested using plastic knives for food service upon learning of Noye's presence.
Although Brown had not arrested Noye, he had identified him as a suspect. Years later, during a TV interview, Noye denied involvement in the robbery. The interview was never aired due to parole threats.
During the lunch, Brown confronted Noye, who attended with his family. Brown refused to alter his presentation and found the situation illogical. The strange incident was revealed when Brown was contacted for details.
Brown criticized the recent BBC drama series 'The Gold' for inaccuracies in depicting the Brink's-Mat heist. He expressed disappointment in the dramatization and misrepresentation of characters, including Noye.
