BJP supports Diljit Dosanjh amid controversy over Sardaar Ji 3 casting
The BJP has come out in support of Diljit Dosanjh, calling him a 'national asset' and a 'global ambassador of Indian culture' amidst backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Amir in 'Sardaar Ji 3'. Dosanjh has faced calls for boycott and revocation of his Indian citizenship, but BJP spokesperson R P Singh defended him, criticizing the demand as unfair and disproportionate.

The casting of Pakistani actress Hania Amir in 'Sardaar Ji 3' has sparked controversy, leading to calls for a boycott of the movie and demands to revoke actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's Indian citizenship. BJP national spokesperson R P Singh defended Dosanjh, calling him a 'celebrated artist' and a 'national asset'. The Bharatiya Janata Party supported Dosanjh, denouncing the call to revoke his citizenship as unfair and disproportionate.
Singh criticized the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) for targeting Dosanjh's patriotism, pointing out the inconsistency in their actions compared to other instances involving Pakistani individuals. He urged FWICE not to 'weaponize patriotism' and weaken India's moral standing.
FWICE objected to Dosanjh working with a Pakistani artiste, citing past terrorist attacks by Pakistan on India. They have called for strong action against the film and its makers, expressing disappointment in Dosanjh for not condemning the Pakistani artist's controversial remarks.
'Sardaar Ji 3' was released overseas but will not be screened in India due to the ongoing controversy.
