Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is advocating for a P25 billion budget each for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to modernize and upgrade their camps and facilities.
Cayetano emphasized the importance of providing additional budget to the military and police forces for maintaining peace and order, safeguarding national security, territorial integrity, and law enforcement.
In his proposed AFP and PNP Camp Development Fund filed on July 3 for the 20th Congress, Cayetano outlined a five-year program with P5 billion annual funding for each agency to modernize their camps, totaling P25 billion for both over the implementation period.
He assured that all development plans and procurements will be transparent, with sensitive information appropriately restricted to protect national security and public order.
The fund will cover construction and enhancement of key infrastructure like training centers, lodging areas, wellness and sports facilities, internet connectivity, and security systems including close-circuit televisions (CCTV).
Cayetano also highlighted the positive impact of infrastructure investment in generating jobs, stimulating local economies, and reducing poverty.
