Elon Musk Launches America Party to Challenge US Political System

Tesla CEO and tech billionaire Elon Musk has announced the launch of a new political party to challenge America's 'one-party system.' This decision came after a disagreement with President Trump, where Musk led a Republican effort to reduce spending and federal workforce size as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Formerly a major donor and ally of Trump, Musk publicly criticized the president's 'One Big Beautiful Bill' and broke ties with him. Musk stated, 'Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,' on his X account.

Musk emphasized the need for a new political party to combat the country's financial mismanagement, stating, 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.'

In an effort to challenge the existing political landscape, Musk referenced historical military tactics, saying, 'The way we're going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield.'

On US Independence Day, Musk conducted a poll asking if respondents wanted independence from the dominant two-party system in the US. The survey received around 1.2 million responses, with Musk noting that 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!'
