Search for Missing Cockfighting Enthusiasts Expands as New Dumping Sites Found
Authorities in the Philippines are set to conduct a search dive in Batangas to locate the bodies of missing cockfighting enthusiasts, known as 'sabungeros,' allegedly dumped in Taal Lake. The operation, scheduled for Thursday, will involve the DOJ, PNP-CIDG, and PCG. The search follows information provided by a middleman, suggesting a higher number of victims than initially reported.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that a search dive will take place in Batangas to locate missing cockfighting enthusiasts dumped in Taal Lake. The operation will be conducted by the DOJ, PNP-CIDG, and PCG in Talisay. The remains were allegedly discarded in a fishpond area based on information from Julie Patidongan, a middleman in the abductions. The number of victims may be as high as 108. The search aims to solve the mystery of the missing sabungeros since 2021.
PNP has expanded its search to Batangas, Laguna, and Metro Manila based on witness accounts of disposal sites. Several places are under investigation as dumping sites of cockfighters allegedly killed due to cheating in online cockfighting. Patidongan and 15 police officers involved in the case are under protective custody.
