Sarina Bolden Reveals ACL Injury as Reason for Missing Games with Filipinas

Sarina Bolden revealed that she ruptured her ACL last April, explaining her absence from the Philippines in recent international events, including the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. Bolden underwent surgery in Australia in May and is currently recovering physically and mentally after the injury while playing for FC Como Women in Italy.

The 29-year-old shared on Instagram about the challenges she faced emotionally and physically post-injury. She expressed her determination to heal gradually and acknowledged the long recovery process ahead.

Despite being the key goal-scorer for the Philippines in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Bolden missed recent camps and friendlies, including the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers in Cambodia. Her ACL injury is expected to sideline her for about a year, ruling her out of the upcoming continental tournament in Australia next March.

Apologizing for the lack of updates, Bolden clarified her need for personal reflection before sharing her situation publicly. She affirmed her commitment to return to the sport and extended her support to the national team.

Expressing her determination to overcome setbacks, Bolden assured her intention to continue playing and encouraged the Philippines Women’s National Team. She concluded by sending her best wishes for their future endeavors.
