Discovery of Possible Human Bones Near Taal Lake During Search for Missing Cockfighting Enthusiasts

The Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Philippines has confirmed the discovery of burned human bones inside a white sack near Taal Lake. The area is where missing 'sabungeros' (cockfighting enthusiasts) were suspected to have been disposed of.

According to the DOJ, a team from the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), along with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), found the white sack containing what seemed to be burned human bones during an initial technical site assessment on July 10, 2025.

The sack was located while government authorities were conducting a preliminary inspection of the area. The next steps include forensic examination of the remains to confirm if they are human, and DNA testing to identify any matches with families of missing individuals.
