Canada and 24 Other Nations Call for End to War in Gaza and Condemn Aid Restrictions

Twenty-five countries, including Canada, France, and several European Union member states, issued a joint statement on Monday urging Israel to end its war in Gaza. The letter written by foreign ministers emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and condemned the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking basic necessities like water and food.

The countries called for parties and the international community to work together to bring the conflict to an end. They expressed support for mediation efforts by the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt and stated their readiness to take further action to achieve security and peace for all involved.

The statement highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, where more than 800 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid. It criticized Israel's denial of humanitarian aid to civilians and called for the immediate release of hostages held by Hamas.

The countries urged Israel to lift restrictions on aid entering Gaza and allow UN and humanitarian organizations to carry out life-saving work. They also opposed any actions that would lead to territorial or demographic changes in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
