An official of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) stated that there is a recommendation to lower the crisis alert level in Israel from 3 to 2, while the deployment ban on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will remain in place.

DFA officials Eduardo de Vega and Germinia Aguilar-Usudan provided an update on the situation in Israel during a media interview in Manila on June 26, 2025.

However, Aguilar-Usudan mentioned that there is no similar recommendation for Tehran, which will stay at alert level 3.

De Vega added that the decision to lower the alert level in Israel is pending approval from the secretary, with the recommendation coming from the Philippine Ambassador to Israel, Aileen Mendiola-Rau.

The DFA emphasized the importance of long-standing peace in the region and highlighted ongoing negotiations for a labor agreement once the situation in Israel stabilizes.

Despite the truce between Israel and Iran, Filipinos in both countries are advised to follow government advisories.

The Philippines supports a two-state solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict and advocates for dialogue and understanding to achieve lasting peace in the region.

With millions of Filipinos in the Middle East, peace in the region is crucial.
