Police Constable Takes Own Life in Tragic Incident
A police constable in Gujar Khan committed suicide at his home in Jewrha village after finishing his night shift. The 35-year-old constable, a father of four, reportedly struggled with mental health issues. The incident sheds light on the challenges faced by lower-ranking police officers who are often posted far from their families.

Gujar khan - A constable posted at the Gujar Khan police station died by suicide on Friday morning after returning home to Jewrha village in Kahuta tehsil.
According to police sources, 35-year-old Wasad Nawaz, after completing his night shift, went home where he shot himself with a pistol in the presence of his wife. Kahuta Police Station House Officer (SHO) Zaka ul Hassan confirmed the incident, stating that the constable was a father of four minor children and had reportedly been undergoing mental health treatment.
Contrasting accounts were given by SHO Malik Nazeer Gheba of Gujar Khan, who said Nawaz appeared normal during the night shift and even had breakfast with a colleague before leaving for home.
The deceased’s body was shifted to THQ Hospital Kahuta for post-mortem, after which further legal formalities will be undertaken, said SHO Zaka.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the hardships faced by lower-ranking police personnel, many of whom are posted far from their native areas. Constables often travel over 100 kilometers daily on motorcycles, enduring harsh weather and fatigue, which can impact their mental well-being and job satisfaction.
While police officials argue that out-of-area postings are necessary to prevent local collusion with criminal elements, experts emphasize the urgent need for regular psychological counseling and a supportive work environment to help prevent such tragic outcomes.
