Man, 84, Admits Using Woman's Old Phone to Harass Her with Sex Photos
An 84-year-old man in Dublin confessed to retrieving intimate photos of a woman from her old phone to intimidate her years later. The woman had gifted him the phone in 2009, but he discovered compromising content on it three years later. The man pleaded guilty to harassment charges and is undergoing psychiatric treatment.

A Dublin pensioner, Anthony Nolan (84), admitted recovering pictures of a woman engaged in sexual acts from her old phone to 'blackmail' her years later. He was charged with harassment from May 8th, 2021, until May 10th, 2022, under section 10 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act. Nolan pleaded guilty in Dublin District Court before Judge Michele Finan. The woman had given him her old phone in 2009, which he discovered personal messages and photos showing her in sexual activities. He attempted to blackmail her with this content. Nolan's defence solicitor mentioned his client was attending psychiatric treatment and needed time to obtain a report. Sentencing was adjourned until September, with a victim impact statement to be prepared. Legal aid was extended for a psychiatric report on Nolan. The case remained in the District Court after jurisdiction was accepted. The victim had wiped the phone clean of personal data before giving it to Nolan. He refused to return the phone after discovering the messages and images, and continued to harass the woman electronically despite her attempts to block him.
