Update on Restoration of Popular Tipperary Landmark - Town Clock Progress Delayed Until September

The Carrick-on-Suir Town Clock is set to undergo restoration works, with a delay expected until September due to a bat survey revealing nesting birds in the upper part of the clock. The absence of bats was confirmed, but the presence of nesting birds means that works on the upper section will have to wait until after nesting season. The lower floors can be worked on after July 20, with the upper part scheduled for restoration after September 1. The necessary funding is secured, and the hope is for the Town Clock to be fully operational again soon.

A Section 12 notification is in place to ensure the protection of the monument during restoration works. Funding of €9,000 has been allocated for the project, with an additional €10,000 provided by the Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District. The restoration project is supported by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.
