Danas, with wind speeds of 137km/h, is moving north along Taiwan's west coast. At least 28 people suffered minor injuries, and over 500ml of rain fell in southern Taiwan. The weather agency warned of more heavy rain as the typhoon progresses northward.
The strongest wind and rain impacts are expected tonight through tomorrow morning. Most evacuees were from mountainous areas near Kaohsiung. There were 10 landslides and 49 flooded areas, but the situation has improved. Taiwan experiences frequent tropical storms from July to October.
