Arsenal Sign Midfielder Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad
Arsenal have secured the services of Spanish midfielder Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for €60 million. The 26-year-old turned down offers from other top European clubs to join Arsenal. Zubimendi, a product of Real Sociedad's youth academy, has impressed with over 170 appearances for the club.
Arsenal have completed the signing of Spain midfielder Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The north London club triggered Zubimendi's €60 million release clause. The 26-year-old's contract at Sociedad was due to expire in June 2027. Real Madrid tried to sign Zubimendi, but Arsenal had already struck a deal in March. Zubimendi had the chance to move to the Premier League a year ago but chose to stay at Sociedad. He made over 170 appearances for Sociedad and attracted interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City. Mikel Arteta played a key role in convincing Zubimendi to join Arsenal. Zubimendi will reunite with his former Sociedad teammate Mikel Merino.
