Chirag Paswan to Run in Bihar Assembly Elections, NDA Alliance Faces New Challenge
Chirag Paswan, leader of Lok Janshakti Party, announced his candidacy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. His party will contest in alliance with BJP and JDU. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan announced his candidacy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections during a political rally in Saran district. Paswan confirmed that his party will contest all 243 seats in alliance with the BJP and the JDU. In the 2020 Bihar polls, LJP contested 137 seats but only won one seat. Paswan, currently a Lok Sabha MP and Cabinet minister in PM Modi's government, won the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in 2024. During his speech, Paswan criticized the Mahagathbandhan and vowed to protect reservation and the Constitution. He also criticized the Congress for threatening the Constitution. Paswan raised concerns about the law and order situation in Bihar, referencing recent crimes. The Bihar Assembly elections are expected to be held later this year.
