Russia warns Trump's actions could worsen conflict in Ukraine
The Kremlin cautioned that President Trump's recent promises of military aid to Ukraine and threats of sanctions against Russia may embolden Ukraine and prolong efforts for peace. Trump's ultimatum for a peace deal with Ukraine has prompted Moscow and Kyiv to engage in talks, but Russia's continued military actions suggest a challenging road ahead.

The Kremlin cautioned that US President Donald Trump's promise of additional weapons for Kyiv and the threat of sanctions against Russian trading partners might embolden Ukraine and further prolong stalled peace efforts.
Trump recently set a 50-day deadline for Russia to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine, expressing frustration with Moscow and announcing a plan with NATO to provide Kyiv with new military aid funded by alliance members.
This move by the US has prompted Moscow and Kyiv to engage in peace talks to resolve the ongoing conflict, which has been ongoing for four years. However, Russia has rejected calls for a ceasefire and has increased drone and missile attacks on Ukraine in recent months.
Moscow stated that it required more time to fully respond to Trump's announcement but suggested that it may not be conducive to successful negotiations.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed concerns that Kyiv might interpret the decision as a signal for continued conflict rather than peace. He emphasized the seriousness of President Trump's statement and mentioned the need for analysis before Moscow's official response.
Trump also threatened to impose significant tariffs on Russia's remaining trade partners if a deal is not reached, aiming to hinder Moscow's ability to fund its military operations.
Despite facing sanctions and economic challenges, Russia has managed to sustain its economy through increased military spending and the redirection of energy exports to countries like China and India.
