UK Introduces Digital eVisas for Pakistani Students and Workers

The United Kingdom has introduced digital eVisas for Pakistani students and workers, starting from July 15, 2025. Primary applicants for UK study or work visas will now receive a digital record of their immigration status instead of a physical sticker visa in their passports. An eVisa is an online confirmation of permission to enter, stay, or work in the UK, accessible through an online UK Visas and Immigration account. The change aims to make the visa process more secure, efficient, and user-friendly.

The new system simplifies the process for Pakistani students and professionals, allowing them to prove their identity and visa status more easily. Various visa categories, including students, Global Business Mobility routes, Global Talent, Skilled Workers, Temporary Work routes, and Youth Mobility Scheme applicants, are covered by the eVisa rollout. Holders can link their travel documents to their UKVI accounts for smoother international travel.

While not all visa applicants will receive eVisas yet, the transition is part of the UK Home Office's phased approach to fully digitize its immigration system. The goal is to eventually replace all physical immigration documents with secure digital records, aligning with global trends in immigration management and improving the customer experience for visa applicants worldwide.
