Popular Tipperary Pub Bertie's Bar Closes After 40 Years of Memories and Friendship

After more than four decades at the heart of the community, Bertie's Bar in Dundrum has closed its doors for the final time. The beloved local pub, which first opened in 1982, bade farewell with one last weekend of memories, music, and meaningful goodbyes.

In a message to its patrons, the bar announced that midsummer felt like the right time to bring this chapter to a close, describing the moment as 'bittersweet'. Its final weekend marked the last time the bar calls for last orders.

The message was filled with gratitude: 'We want to thank you all for your custom, your company, and most of all, your friendship over the years. You’ve made Bertie’s more than just a bar.'

Locals were invited to drop by for 'one final Tipp match, a game of pool or cards, a farewell toast, and the chance to swap stories with friends old and new'. Bertie’s Bar — proudly serving Dundrum since 1982.

PP O'Dwyer Hardware said: 'We would like to wish Bertie and family the very best of luck in his retirement. We have shared many fond memories in the last 40+ years and Bertie's was always a very welcome establishment to call in to. The name that was known all across the country wherever you travel. A great stalwart of Dundrum.'
