Laois Village Creates Stunning Mural with 25,000 Bottle Caps

A Laois village has unveiled a stunning mural, created with 25,000 bottle caps collected by the community.

Clough locals have spent over three years collecting these bottle caps, to help create the mural designed by local woman Victoria Dobbyn.

Locals diligently kept their bottle caps in bags, to donate towards the mural. The caps were then separated and sorted by colour, with help from Clough NS students.

Thanks to the support from the wider community, and Clough Tidy Town's dedication to enhancing the village, this stunning mural was completed.

Drop off and collection points for the bottle caps were established, with recycling cages placed in the GAA grounds.

The mural was officially unveiled on Sunday June 22, after three years of dedication from the wider community.

\"A huge thank you to Victoria Dobbyn for designing this beautiful mural, which captures everything that makes our village special,\" said a member of Clough Tidy Towns.

\"Gratitude to Maureen Dobbyn, Josie Rafter and Cllr. John King for their support in making it a reality, and for all they do for our school and pre-school.

\"To all the amazing volunteers who sorted, glued, nailed — your hard work made this possible. Special thanks to Aidan Bergin, John Burke, and Phil Malone for their tireless efforts.

\"Thanks also to SuperValu for kindly donating refreshments for our post-unveiling gathering in the hall.

This has truly been a community effort — and a fantastic achievement for our small but mighty village!\" the representative finished.

While this initiative was supported by the community, it was driven by Clough Tidy Towns members.

Last year, Clough locals organised the installation of a commemorative sign to mark the mass paths in the area.
