Protesters reportedly forced the event to move to a more secure location. The extravagant three-day celebration is estimated to cost between $US10 million and $US76 million. Tech tycoons and Hollywood celebrities are flying in on 90 private jets.
The couple has requested their wealthy guests, including Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lachlan Murdoch, Bill Gates, and Kim Kardashian, not to bring gifts. Instead, donations are being made to UNESCO Venice Office, CORILA, and Venice International University to support Venice's cultural heritage and future.
