Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's First Message from ISS: Challenges and Excitement

Hours after entering the International Space Station (ISS), Axiom-4 crew member Shubhanshu Shukla said his arrival at the space station marks India’s first step in its own space journey. In his first message from ISS, delivered in Hindi, Shukla expressed excitement about participating in science experiments planned for the next 14 days.

Shukla shared a message for his fellow countrymen, stating that while it may seem easy to stand in space, it comes with challenges like feeling heavy-headed and discomfort. He assured that these are minor issues that they will adapt to in a few days.

During their stay on the ISS, the crew will conduct various scientific experiments and maintain communication with people on Earth. Shukla emphasized that this phase signifies India's initial venture into space exploration. He expressed eagerness to engage in an exciting journey and carry out activities with enthusiasm, carrying the Indian Tricolour with pride.

Shukla extended gratitude to the ISS crew for their warm reception, surpassing his expectations. He expressed confidence that the upcoming days will be remarkable as they progress in scientific research together.

The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, named Grace, successfully docked with the ISS over the North Atlantic Ocean. Shubhanshu Shukla, the second Indian to travel to space after Rakesh Sharma, embarked on this mission alongside astronauts from Poland and Hungary. The crew departed from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on their journey to the ISS.
